Serving Norwich
and Norfolk
We’re a family-run team working in Norwich and across Norfolk. Whether you’re in the city, Costessey or further afield, get in touch and tell us what you need.
Your local electrical teamDo you cover areas outside Norwich?
Yes. We’re based in Norwich and work throughout Norfolk, including Costessey and the villages around the city. We carry out electrical work for homeowners, landlords and businesses.
When you get in touch, include the property’s postcode and a short description of the job. That helps us plan a visit and understand what you need. For larger projects, let us know your intended start date and whether other trades are involved.
What electrical work can you help with?
We handle installations, inspections and repairs, from an extra socket to a complete property rewire. Our services include:
- Full and partial rewires and consumer unit upgrades.
- EICRs and electrical testing for homes, rental properties and businesses.
- Renovations and extensions, lighting and sockets, and EV chargers.
- Commercial installations and ongoing maintenance.
If you’re unsure which service you need, explain the problem or your plans and we’ll help you with the next step.
What is an EICR, and when might I need one?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) records the condition of an existing electrical installation. It can help identify issues that need attention and explain whether further investigation or repairs are required.
For rented properties covered by England’s electrical safety rules, inspection and testing is required at least every five years, or sooner if the report specifies. You can read the current GOV.UK guidance for the requirements and exceptions.
Visit our EICR page for information about inspections, reports and remedial work.
How do I know whether my home needs rewiring?
The age of a property alone doesn’t tell you whether it needs a rewire. The condition of the wiring, previous alterations and the demands placed on the installation all matter.
If you’re buying an older home, planning a major renovation or concerned about your electrics, we can discuss an inspection. We’ll explain what we find and whether the work involves a repair, a partial update or a full rewire. There’s no need to assume the whole installation needs replacing before it has been assessed.
How do I get a quote for electrical work?
Call us or use the enquiry form with a description of the work and the property’s postcode. Useful details include the number of rooms or fittings involved, whether the property is occupied and any timing you have in mind.
Quotations are free. Some jobs need a visit so we can check the existing installation and access. We’ll explain the proposed work and quote for your requirements. Property size, materials, access and the condition of the existing electrics can all affect the price.
When should I involve an electrician in a renovation?
Ideally, before room layouts and finishes are agreed. Planning early gives you time to consider lighting, socket positions, appliance supplies and any changes needed to the existing installation.
- First fix: cable routes and wiring are arranged before walls and ceilings are finished.
- Second fix: switches, sockets and other fittings are installed as the project progresses.
- Completion: the work is tested and the appropriate certification provided.
We can coordinate with your builder and other trades. See our renovations and extensions service for more.
Can you install an EV charger at my property?
We install EV chargepoints for homes and welcome workplace charging enquiries. Before quoting, we consider the existing electrical supply, parking location, cable route and any permissions needed.
Tell us about your vehicle, where it is parked and whether you already have a charger in mind. We’ll discuss a suitable installation and explain any associated electrical work. Our EV charger installation page covers what to expect and the information that helps us assess your property.
Do you take on small jobs and urgent repairs?
Yes. We’re happy to help with smaller jobs such as replacement lights, additional sockets and faulty switches, as well as larger installations. You can see examples of the work we cover on our lighting and sockets and callouts and maintenance pages.
For an urgent problem, call 01603 331153 to check availability. The team will confirm whether and when a visit can be arranged. Sending an enquiry form does not book an urgent callout.
How do you look after my home while working?
We protect the areas we work in, including using mats for our tools so they don’t sit directly on worktops or other surfaces. We plan access with you, explain any periods when the power needs to be off and keep you informed as work progresses.
We also take care around existing finishes and tidy the work area when we’re done. For jobs such as rewires, we’ll discuss disruption and making good before starting. You can meet the team and read about our approach on the About page.
Are Novatide registered and accredited?
Our accreditations include NAPIT, TrustMark and MCS. We carry out domestic and commercial electrical work and provide the appropriate testing and certification for the work undertaken.
When choosing an electrician, it’s sensible to check their current registration and whether it covers the work you need. Electrical Safety First’s registered electrician guide explains how to find registered professionals. If your project has a specific certification requirement, let us know when you enquire so we can discuss it with you.
